Running An Effective Website

Running an effective website is a continuous process. I have compiled five (5) ways of doing it on a regular basis.

1. Maintain and Optimize Your Site.

Maintenance is making sure your site is technically ready for visitors. To do this, a web site owner needs to regularly run site diagnostics to unearth common problems, such as browser compatibility, load time performance, dead links, link popularity, spelling check, HTML, design and directory registration readiness. You have to make sure your site is optimized in all areas mentioned.

2. Attract your visitors.

Nobody can resist a free offer. You have to reward your visitors with loads of free stuff. Giving something for free creates the demand for them. You also need to update your web site regularly, add fresh content, update time-sensitive information, and offer good\ deals/discounts/promos/special offers to give your visitors a valid reason to return to your site.

3. Track your visitors.

An effective web site contains a functional counter that can tell how many visitors are coming, where are they coming from, and which website(s) referred it. With this information on hand, you can identify which marketing campaigns, banner ads and page content to display on your web site.

4. Understand your customers.

If you identify and understand your visitor's demographics, you'll be able to understand what types of people are interested in your site. You can then identify potential new visitors, and target your promotions to those segments for best return on investment.

5. Communicate with your customers.

Keep in touch with your visitors by setting up an e-mail mailing list. E-mail is the most cost-effective way of announcing news, promotions, product releases or tips to your visitors.

Additionally, the more you establish your rapport with your visitors, the more useful you can make your site to your existing visitors.

The Fastest Running Dog

The fastest running dog of all the canine species is the Greyhound. Because of their great speed, many Greyhound owners use these animals as racing dogs. In this case, the lifespan of a Greyhound depends on how long he can maintain his ability win. After too many losses, some owners will opt to euthanize their animals. For those Greyhounds lucky enough to be rescued, they can be rehabilitated for family pets.

If you decide you'd like to give a rehabilitated Greyhound a home, consider speaking with a trained rescuer about the issues these types of dogs may have. When training a Greyhound to race, they are taught to chase a mechanical rabbit. Many times Greyhounds will have difficulty discerning the mechanical rabbit from a small child or other pet, and will erroneously give chase. Rehabilitated Greyhounds make much better pets when they are not given the opportunity to interact with children and other pets. Being full grown at the time of their rehabilitation, unfortunately does not mean they are house broken and will likely need extra time and patience to learn what is expected of a pet.

The American Kennel Club classifies the Greyhounds as a member of the Hound Group, which first made their appearance in ancient Egypt. There they were taught to hunt down game. After making their way to England, they developed into favored animals with British noblemen who, realizing their speed and ability to turn coin, began racing them. This trend continued when Greyhounds crossed the seas to America.

Large, sleek and strong with narrow bodies, Greyhounds are muscular with long lithe tails and dark eyes. Where most dogs of a specific breed are categorized by their unique color, the Greyhound breed can be a variety of different colors.

Though not known for their energy, Greyhounds are popular for their impossible speed. When not racing, these dogs can be found lazing away in the shade, storing what energy they have for their next race. Greyhounds need plenty of room to run, in a well enclosed area. However, animals that live in more confined spaces like apartments will eventually acclimate themselves to walking on a leash.

Typically Greyhounds are amiable, companionable pets that enjoy time spent with their families playing. Greyhounds are affectionate dogs and love to be close to their owners. They love children and delight in playing with them, and are generally gentle and good natured enough to play with other animals as well. Because the Greyhound's instinct is to prey, it's advisable you watch them closely around other pets and children. Though they are loveable dogs, their natural instincts drive their actions.

Greyhounds require good quality food to sustain their bodies and provide energy. They are notorious for their tendency to bloat, so Greyhound owners must carefully monitor their food intake and make certain they are not eating too much. It's recommended, for the overall health of your pet that they be allowed to eat numerous smaller meals instead of a couple larger ones. It's always a good idea to speak with a veterinarian; they will be able to provide the best information about how to care for your Greyhound, along with recommending a vitamin supplement that will keep your pet in good health.

Luckily Greyhounds don't shed much at all. This is because they have a short coat, which makes grooming for these animals relatively simple. Greyhounds shouldn't need to be brushed more than once a week, and a good rule of thumb is to have their nails clipped by a professional when they begin to sound like tap dancers.

Running Your Business From Home

Are you running a business from home? Did you know that you may need planning permission? Here are some questions that you need to ask yourself:

Is your house mainly used as a place to live or is its primary purpose as a business premises?
Does running your home business create a lot of traffic?
Do you have many visitors coming to your home?
Do you have business visitors at unsociable hours?
Are you altering the property in any way by extending it or making structural changes?
Do you employ any staff in your home?
Does your home business create any noise or smells?

For most home businesses whereby the house is only used as a place to receive and make outgoing phone calls no planning permission is required in most cases.

Make sure that you keep your business equipment in a separate room and keep this locked when you are not using it so that it does not cause a hazard to other members of the household.

Ensure that all your wiring and electrical equipment does not pose a hazard especially to small children. Do not overload electrical sockets as this can create a fire risk. Remember to have smoke alarms fitted throughout the house and especially in your office.

If you employ staff and meet a lot of people at home than you need to check with your local authority if this is permissible. They might ask you to make some changes so that your house is deemed safe as a place of work.

Your neighbours might start objecting if you turn a quiet suburb into a busy area with a lot of people coming and going. On the other hand if you receive very few visitors then they are unlikely to object.

A typical example of where you definitely need to check with the local authorities first, is if you run a child minding business from home. They will need to inspect your property and may ask you to make some improvements so that it is deemed to be safe for the children.

Another example of a business that might be deemed to cause a nuisance to the neighbours is if your work involves a lot of noise or smells. A joiner who bangs away with his hammer and tools could easily upset the people who live next door.

Working from home has many advantages including lower start up costs and money / time saved travelling to and from work. By checking with your local authority first and taking out adequate home business insurance you can avoid problems later.

No Running in School

Dodge ball was out years ago because of it's dangerous nature. Now some schools in Wyoming, Washington, Oregon, California and South Carolina have banned tag, soccer and touch football. Just this week some Massachusetts schools added themselves to the game-banning list, citing a broader rule against "hitting and inappropriate touching" – WHAT???

A recent article published in USA Today explains how a trend is developing across the country limiting kid's physical activity in schools. Many districts are banning more and more games in PE and on recess.

Another class bites the dust

To make matters worse many middle schools and high schools are cutting PE from the full year curriculum. ‘The Shape of the Nation' report, released about a month ago, concluded that most states are failing to provide student's with adequate physical education. The report showed that the number of students attending a daily PE class is down to 28%! Does this have anything to do with the fact the 1 out of 5 school age kids today are overweight? Along with horrible diets of most kids, the lack of sufficient physical activity is a huge part of the problem.

Many schools cite the need for more academic class time in order to meet the requirements of national testing standards. The irony of it is that cutting PE programs is actually making our student's test performance worse. A large Canadian study looked at the academic performance of kids split into two groups. One group received one hour of PE class with moderate physical activity during the course of the day, while the other group had academic instruction for that hour.

At the end of the year, the group of kids that had PE outperformed the other group in academic classes for every grade tested. This was true even though the non-PE group received about 15% more classroom instruction time. So does it make sense to cut PE from our schools?

Physical activity is proven to increase attention, improve learning and improve memory. These are all attributes that help kids become better students. Yet our schools continue to cut PE from their curriculum. We must put greater value on physical activity in the school system and find a way to support it.

Sweat or Stress

As the Canadian study suggests, physical activity can actually make you smarter. Not only that, but exercise can help prevent disorders like Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease and depression. It can even increase your chances of recovering from a stroke or traumatic brain injury.

Exercise causes a rise in several growth factors in the brain that are responsible for helping brain cells survive and divide into new brain cells, or neurons. One of the brain areas producing new neurons is the hippocampus. The hippocampus plays a critical role in learning, memory and attention. Exercise helps new neurons grow in the hippocampus, which helps improve performance on several types of cognitive tasks.

Another important role of the hippocampus is in the response to stress. In fact, studies show that a smaller hippocampus is associated with anxiety disorders and depression. Stress can damage the hippocampus and cause neurons to die, the opposite of what happens when you exercise.

Folks that exercise regularly know that they are much more capable of handling stress throughout their day than they are when they don't exercise. This is, in part, because exercise and stress have opposite effects on the hippocampus and exercise improves your ‘buffer' to handle the stress.

Interestingly, anti-depressants work in a similar way. Although, we don't completely understand the exact mechanism of anti-depressant action, we do know that several classes of anti-depressants increase new neurons in the hippocampus. They do the same thing that exercise does!

Like exercise, anti-depressants also induce new neuron growth in the hippocampus. Psychiatrists have known for a long time that patients experiencing depression respond much better to therapy if they combine it with regular exercise. In some cases, exercise alone is sufficient to alleviate depressive symptoms. Personally, I'd rather see doctors try a prescription for more physical activity and a better diet before they send you to the pharmacist.

Jogging Stroller Running Tips

A Jogging stroller is a fun and healthy way for you to exercise with baby. However, a little planning will also make it simple and easy. Planning ahead means thinking about your fitness level, baby's health, exercises to choose, and where you want to do them. Here is a quick checklist of important considerations:

1. Consult your doctor about your health and the baby. You will find that most recommend waiting 6 to 8 weeks after birth before you start exercising again. Of course, you should be careful about running with babies younger than 6 months.

2. Purchase a good jogging stroller (there is a great deal of information available on the internet). Whether you are a competitive runner getting back into shape, a suburban mall-dad, or just a tired Mom looking for a way to get baby to fall asleep, make sure that your jogging stroller fits the activity that you have in mind.

3. Think about your running route and how long it will take. You may choose a stroll along sidewalks to your local park, jog along a dedicated running path, or go off-road to hiking trails. Your choice will depend on your general fitness level, safety concerns, and your baby's endurance. Either way, start small with walking down your street or around the block. This will ease you back into it, and get your little one comfortable with the new experience. As you extend your routine, choose well-traveled trails with plenty of people around, and design your route in a circuit - so you finish back at home. If you must drive to your running spot, the circuit should begin and end where you parked.

4. Try to get organized: Before you step outside, get all your ducks in a row. Try to dress yourself and baby while you're still inside and then prepare the stroller for use. Preparing the stroller means checking the tires for flats, checking the brakes, and loading up all the things you'll need: blanket, toys, sippy cup, snacks, music, water bottle for you, cell phone, keys etc. If there is someone else at home, you can prepare the jogging stroller outside while a family member watches baby inside. If you are alone with baby then you will have to get her ready and then prep the stroller with her in one hand! Get used to being a one-armed parent - but never leave your child alone while attending to the stroller.

5. Load up the stroller: Expand the stroller, lock the frame, and engage the parking brake before you place your baby inside. Make sure that all the shoulder, waist, and crotch straps are adjusted, the buckle or fastener has snapped into place, and that baby is comfortable before you start off. Make sure that the wrist strap is firmly secured to both you and the stroller before you begin. Now you are ready to roll!

6. While you are running: The two key things to remember are stride and posture. Running with a jogging stroller is a little different from normal jogging, so you must remember not to hunch over the handlebar and also not to bump your feet on the rear axle. If you have a naturally long stride, shorten it a bit. The correct running posture should have your shoulders relaxed and your chest pushed out, and your stomach muscles firm. Your arms (i.e. from elbow to wrist) should be parallel to the ground, and you should grip the handlebar lightly. Run at a moderate speed and never more than 10 to 12 mph. Check on baby from time to time by glancing down through the peek window, or stopping at intervals.

7. Safety First: Make sure to stay alert and keep your wits about you! You are a parent first and a runner second - so do not get too engrossed in the exercise. Look out for cars, joggers, excitable dogs, and the like. It goes without saying, but never leave your baby unattended. If you stop to chat, keep your hand on the handlebar. If you head into a coffee shop and the stroller won't fit through the door, take baby out and then go inside. A little commonsense goes a long way.

Running Car on Water

As running car on water does not necessarily entail stopping gas consumption and you will still be buying it although not as much and often as you would when your car was running only on gas. Since the concept of running cars on water based mechanisms is no more a science fiction, you can say, there is so much to gain from running car on water. Browsing through internet will easily return enough information to convince you that it is not impossible to do it.

If you are reading this article I am sure you are willing to take this important step in your life and are only waiting for more information about this technique. My request to you is to feel free to read this article completely. But first, let me assure you that running car on water kits are safe, beneficial and there are several installed kits in every city across USA and world wide which are helping their masters save big bucks on gas prices day in and day out.

It is my well considered opinion that it is high time that everyone switched to running their cars on water driven technology. Running car on water not only increases tractive force generated and decreases noxious emissions but also increases engine’s life. There are a number of benefits to be had from switching over to water based technology besides savings on gas bills.

There are a few valid concerns raised at various fora. Most of them are connected to issues of safety of running car on water in one way or the other. My advice is to keep off the shadowy deals trying to entice your action using cheap methods. Nevertheless, the technology has evolved sufficiently to address safety concerns convincingly.

So here are the six benefits of running car on water.

1. Cars running on water are sure to improve mileage by at least 35% which may even cross 50% in some cases depending on factors like skill of the installation mechanic, condition, driving/road conditions and the age of your car etc. Regardless, it is a huge enough saving potential particularly yours is a business.

2. There is no fear of emission of poisonous and greenhouse gases from the exhaust as you are running car on water which is now environmentally friendly. That demonstrates your environmental concerns.

3. Engine performance increases with experience. Water run cars are more likely to have longer life than gasoline run cars.

4. No chore of carbon deposits

5. Cooler running because of reduce risk of engine overheating

6. Low wear and tear on engine parts such as pistons, rings, valves which boosts up your car’s life expectancy.

Galileo couldn’t have discovered what he did had he left it to his fate. To do your bit to the environment and save money on that account, begin running car on water, today.

There are lot of skeptics around that claim that this technology is flawed and that it just not possible.

I have already converted my car and know that it is possible to use water to power your car.

Tips On Cold Weather Running

Your alarm goes off a 6:00 AM; you jump out of bed to get ready for your run. You look out the window and notice that it’s snowed, the thermometer says its 35 degrees Fahrenheit outside. For a fleeting moment you think about postponing your run, but just for a second, the avid runner that you are won’t let you miss a day, unless of course there’s a blizzard. While being dedicated to your sport is admirable, here are some tips on cold weather running from a personal personal fitness & nutrition trainer Dallas you should know in order to avoid injury and have a safe run. You might also consider using the expert skills of personal fitness & nutrition trainer.

• What to wear? Layer when your run. When you layer you will be able to take clothes off if you become too warm, keeping you safe and just warm enough.

• Be Seen? Make sure you wear clothes that are noticeable especially if you’re running at night or in the snow.

• What is too much? Before you leave on your run if you feel very warm and comfy you are more than likely overdressed for your run.

• What type of clothing? Pick clothing that is made out of a moisture wick material. This will help keep you dry and warm and will also prevent irritation and chafing from sweating. It also minimizes loss of body heat.

• Extremities? Make sure to wear a hat and mittens, (gloves are fine, but mittens are warmer). Heat tends to escape quickly through the top of your head. Be sure to wear a hat to keep your ears war and the heat in. Be sure to wear mittens, this will help to avoid frost bite.

• Hydrate? Whether you realize this or not you need to drink fluids just as much in the winter as you do in the summer. You’re running and your body is working vigorously expending energy, you need to hydrate, whether its water or a sport drink throughout your workout.

• Warm up? Remember to stretch before and during your run. Loosening up your muscles before you run raises your body heat helping to avoid injury.

• Fuel? Running on an empty stomach is like driving your car on a long trip without any gas. You need fuel for energy to have a great run. It’s best to eat simple fruit a couple of hours before your run. Simple sugars are easily digestible and change to fuel rapidly.

Now that you know the tips on cold weather running here’s something else recommended by a personal fitness & nutrition trainer Dallas you might like to know. Have you ever felt a sharp pain in your throat when you were running? This is caused by cold air hitting your lungs when you breathe: it doesn’t have time to warm up. You can help eliminate this by breathing through your nose. (This is also a good technique to learn whenever you run.) This technique will not eliminate, but will help decrease the painful sensation in your throat.

One more thing, try running in the middle of the day if you can, it’s the warmest part of the day when it’s winter. Follow these tips for cold weather running, use your common sense, keep warm, and have a safe run.
